Buckell was on Tuesday named in a 21-member squad, which will compete in China from August 23-27.
It caps a big month for the 17-year-old Bendigo Senior Secondary College student, who this month rode in first senior Bendigo International Madison, when he teamed with fellow men's endurance team member Godfrey Slattery.
The junior pairing finished ninth among 16 teams behind winners Alex Porter and Rohan Wright.
Buckell continues to go from strength-to-strength on the track.
He last year became the youngest winner of the prestigious Melbourne Cup on Wheels cycling classic, when he won the 2000m wheelrace in June.
The national endurance team contains eight cyclists.
