A Victoria Police spokeswoman said investigations into the whereabouts of the driver of a car that crashed into a power pole at Whipstick Road about 12pm on Wednesday were ongoing.
The man is aged in his mid-20s, is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, with facial tattoos and was wearing a blue checked shirt.
Victoria Police on Wednesday confirmed it was aware the man had previously had access to firearms.
Members searching for the man were advised to take appropriate safety precautions, but Victoria Police said no firearm was sighted that day.

UPDATE, Thursday 7.48am: A MAN who fled the scene of a car crash on Wednesday has yet to be located by police.
A Victoria Police spokesman said the driver of the vehicle, which crashed into a power pole at Whipstick Road about 12pm, was still outstanding.
The investigation is ongoing.
Police were searching for the man in nearby bushland on Wednesday afternoon.
UPDATE 4.45pm: Investigators believe they know the identity of the man who fled the scene of a car crash this afternoon, police have said.
In a statement released this afternoon, Victoria Police confirmed it was aware the man had previously had access to firearms.
No firearm has been sighted today and a search is still under way for the man, Victoria Police said.
Members searching for the man were advised to take appropriate safety precautions.
The man has not been located as yet.

UPDATE 4pm: Powercor crews are at the scene of the crash and will have to replace the pole involved.
A Powercor spokesperson said the power pole was that badly damaged that crews would have to replace it.
About 50 customers in the area will lose power during the process, but it should be switched back on within 30 minutes, the spokesperson said.
Powercor expects the job to be completed by 6.30pm.

The man struck a power pole on Whipstick Road about 12pm and fled the scene.
Police are continuing to search for the man in nearby bushland.

UPDATE 1.50pm: Powercor will attend the scene to assess any damage to the affected power pole.
However, a spokesman said there had been no loss of power supply or reported impact on customers.
The owner of the home outside of which the crash occurred came home to find the powerline down and an abandoned car.
UPDATE 1.40pm: Police have begun a line search through bushland on the Whipstick Road.
A witness said they saw a heavily-tattooed man dump something in the bush.
He heard a loud noise and thought it was a tree coming down, but then saw the man walking through the bush.
About 20 plain clothes and uniform police are searching the area.
UPDATE 1.10pm: Police have confirmed they are looking for the driver of a vehicle, which was involved in a crash about midday on Whipstick Road. Police believe the man may be armed.
UPDATE 1pm: Multiple police units are moving into the area.
EARLIER: A major police operation is under way in Eaglehawk North.
A command post has been set up and a number of police units are in the area.
