More than 4000 athletes will contest the national titles from this Sunday.
The eight-day meet has drawn 38 Olympians and 33 Paralympians.
Many of Bendigo’s stars shone at the Victorian open and junior titles at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium.
Bendigo’s gold medallists at the Victorian titles who are bound for Sydney are Bendigo Harriers’ Kyle Murphy, Christopher Browne; Joseph Baldwin, Cooper Saunders and Liam Richardson, and South Bendigo clubmates Emma Berg, James Woods, Taryn Furletti and Yazmin Hayes
Also bound for the nationals are South Bendigo’s Teleah and Zahra Hayes,Jake Hilson, Lucy Zotti, Ella Dee Farnell; and Eaglehawk’s Olivia Graham, Denise Snyder.
Bendigo Harriers will also be represented by Ben Powell, Emily and Liam Schreck, Matilda Moore, Aiden and Hannah Smith and Bridget Catania.
University’s Jack Hickman and Wil McCaig are in top form in distance runs.
Several Melbourne-based athletes who first started competing in Bendigo have earned selection in Victoria’s team, including sprint ace Sophie Taylor, pole vault star Madeline Lawson, high jump star Hannah Alderton, sprinter Emily Lawson and hurdler Fraser Symons.
