State festival opens in Castlemaine

With a theme of “The Future of Things Past” the night featured acrobats, dancers, clowns, beatboxers and brass bands set to bring the celebration to life.

After beginning in 1976, the Castlemaine State Festival is held once every two years and grown to become one of Australia’s leading regional arts festivals.

Community groups, school students, volunteers and artists come from all over the Mount Alexander region to put the festival together.
