About 800 lawn bowlers – including a contingent from Western Australia for the third year in a row – are expected to compete, with games to be played at 11 clubs in the region.
The Kyneton team of Mark Smoljo and John Kays will be back to defend its pairs title from last year.
The pairs final will be played on Wednesday night at the Bendigo Bowls Club.
The Lancefield combination of Barry and Mark Godbolt and Jock and Peter Linehan will be chasing back-to-back wins in the fours event, which will culminate on Thursday, also at the Bendigo Bowls Club.
A total of $9000 in prizemoney is up for grabs.
“Country Week is the biggest bowls event of its type in the state and sees everybody having a fantastic time both on and off the greens over the four days,” Country Week co-ordinator Geoff Briggs said on Friday.
