FOR students of one local primary school, the Eaglehawk Dahlia and Arts Festival brings an opportunity to show off all the hard work and creativity they’ve poured into this term’s art lessons.
More than 90 Lightning Reef Primary school students, with the help of 13 teachers, have participated in creating a float and masks for Saturday’s festival parade, which this year is themed ‘Carnivale’.
For most of this school term, visual arts lessons have been devoted to designing and making masks.
Many students have also spent lunchtimes decorating the school’s four-metre float.
“Staff and students are thrilled to be participating in the festival as it is just such a great opportunity to celebrate our local community,” visual arts teacher Emma Roberts said.
