A prolapsed disc in his back has forced an end to the decorated career of Weeks, who had spent the past two years back at his home club Colbinabbin following stints at Golden Square and Rochester.
“It’s obviously very disappointing for Weeksy and it’s just a big blow for himself and Colbo,” Knight said on Thursday.
“He’s one of the best forwards going around, so it’s going to leave a huge hole in our side, but we’ve just got to find a way now to kick goals.
“We showed at the start of last year when he was out with his ankle (for first seven games) that we were capable of kicking goals, so we’ll have to get back to that style of footy.
“We’ll be a lot more unpredictable up forward without Weeksy being that focal target and we’ll look to now make that unpredictability a strength of ours.”
