When the Black Dog Bites confronts depression head-on and opens a dialog between those who suffer the illness and those who do not.

February 28 2017 - 9:00am

Over the past six weeks, Daniel Butterworth’s unsettling self-portraits have drawn a powerful response from visitors to the La Trobe Art Institute. When the Black Dog Bites confronts depression head-on and opens a dialog between those who suffer the illness and those who do not. By talking about mental illness and openly representing aspects of it, Butterworth has helped break down the stigma and given voice to those who stay silent. Join the conversation this week, before the exhibition closes at 5pm, March 5.
