Heading into round 14, Castlemaine (147 points) sits in second position, three clear of Bendigo (144).
The Maine is the hottest team in the competition at the moment, having won its past five games, the last three of which have been by a combined 95 shots.
Bendigo has put the lull of a four-game losing streak behind it, having won its past two matches by a total of 71 shots.
Regardless of results, the four finalists are set, with Bendigo East and South Bendigo to also join Bendigo and Castlemaine.
However, it’s still possible for all four teams to finish on top of what’s a tight ladder, while eight skippers are still in the running to finish as the season’s top skipper.
• Saturday’s games – Bendigo v Castlemaine, Golden Square v Bendigo East, Kangaroo Flat v Eaglehawk, South Bendigo v Inglewood.
