Saturday’s division one team for Inglewood features one rink that will be entirely made up of three generations of the Rowley family.

Keith Rowley, his son Daryl, and his two sons Max and Nick will all play together against South Bendigo.

Proving just how diverse the game of lawn bowls is for people of all ages, there’s a 67-year difference between Keith (77) and Nick (10), who is making his division one debut.

“It’s going to be very special this weekend… it’s probably one of the only sports where this many generations can play together in a competitive aspect,” said Daryl, who is in his third season as coach of Inglewood.

Nick – who last season played in a division five premiership with his grandmother Lorraine – will play lead, Keith second, Max third and Daryl will skip the rink.

Daryl, Keith and Max have all played together in the same rink this season, but with Nick Davies unavailable, it has opened the door for Nick to become one of the youngest division one players in BBD pennant history.

“We thought it would be a good opportunity for Nick to get a little bit of a taste of division one,” Daryl said.

“He’s been picked on his ability… he has played well in the lower grade, so we’re looking forward to seeing how he goes.”

Added Keith: “It’s going to be a proud day for the family.”

Inglewood’s clash against South Bendigo will be played on the South greens from 1.30pm.
