The driver, in his 50s, sustained minor injuries and is being taken to Bendigo Health. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Police said it was lucky the impact was on the passenger side but investigations were ongoing into the cause of the crash.
“It looks like he’s gone off to the left into dirt, lost control and veered across the road into the centre median strip,” Bendigo Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Niall King said.
He said the car was a write-off.
The right-hand southbound lane is closed and Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, State Emergency Service and Country Fire Authority crews remain on scene.
