Thirty lives have been lost on the state's roads so far this year, after a single vehicle crash at Lake Rowan in the state's north claimed the life of a motorist.

Police said the driver and only occupant of the car died at the scene, after the vehicle ran off the road and struck a tree shortly after 4pm on Wednesday.
It is believed the vehicle was travelling west along Lake Rowan Road when the driver lost control, crossed to the wrong side of the road and crashed.
The crash brings the Victorian road toll to 30, compared to 44 for the same period last year. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
