The recall affects Mazda2, Mazda3 and Mazda6 models sold between 4 September 2007 and 28 March 2012.
A list of 65,536 vehicle identification numbers for cars has been released.
The vehicles may have a crack or loosened retaining nuts on mechanisms for adjusting the drivers seat, according to a statement from Product Safety Australia.
“The seat may exhibit an abnormal noise or rattling. In the worst case, the lifter link may break or separate from the seat frame, causing the seat to move out of position,” the statement read.
“Mazda Australia will contact all affected owners by mail. Owners will be advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Mazda dealer for inspection and repair at no charge.
“Consumers who require further information should contact Mazda Australia.”
