The two arrows were painted onto the bitumen at a turning lane from the Calder Highway into McInnes Street.
Both arrows pointed right even though the turning lane was left-turning.
The T-intersection is overlooked by Big Hill Primary School.
VicRoads regional director Mal Kersting said the arrows were painted in error yesterday and have since been removed.
“The incorrect arrows have been blacked out now and will be corrected by (Tuesday),” he said.
“We apologise for any confusion this may have caused motorists.”
