The Braves defeated Wonthaggi Coasters 40-25 in Shepparton on Sunday, booking their spot in the national under-16 championships in Melbourne later this year.
Salm said his young team had continued to get better and better throughout the tournament, culminating in their grand final win.
"We were probably pushed a bit further in our semi-final," he said.
"Come the grand final we just blew them apart in the first quarter and they couldn't get the margin back.
"Right through from the under-14s this group have been a fairly strong team.
"There's a lot of them in the team who are in basketball and netball academies - Bendigo has a very rich vein of athletes in that age group.
"It will be a tug of war between basketball and netball as to where some of these girls end up with their sport."
The Braves were led by Piper Dunlop, who scored a game-high 13 points.
Ruby Turner (eight points), Olivia Noter (seven) and Anabel Strahan (five) all made handy contributions for the victorious Braves, who led for the entire contest.
The Braves earlier set up their grand final appearance with a 38-21 win over Wodonga Wolves and 24-21 victory against Southern Peninsula Sharks.
The round one win against the Wolves was marked by eight point contributions from Dunlop, Noter and Sahara Rodda.
Salm praised the input of his assistant coach, Bendigo Lady Braves star Tahnee Cannan.
"I try to weave a thousand words into a 30-second timeout and you can see all the girls looking at me a bit strange asking what did he just say," he said.
"TC will put her hand on my shoulder and say 'what Nick is trying to say is we need to do this' and all the girls say, 'right, I've got it'.
"To her credit we had every single girl play every game and good minutes.
"At that level, a lot of coaches rely on six, maybe seven players in their roster of 10, whereas every game we had different contributions, every kid got on the court and had good minutes.
"I'm very chuffed with TC's ability to manage that, we were very lucky to have her."
The championship winning team comprised Jasmine Dole, Piper Dunlop, Brianna Harris, Arriah Keogh, Meg McCarthy, Olivia Noter, Sophie Pica, Sahara Rodda, Annabel Strahan, Ruby Turner.
Meanwhile, the Braves under-18 girls team had to settle for being runners-up to Bellarine Storm.
Jess Rennie scored 10 points and Danielle O'Toole added seven in a 42-25 loss.
In under-18 men's competition, Echuca Pirates lost a thriller To Geelong Supercats 49-47 in division one, while Maryborough Blazers went down to Wangaratta Warriors 35-29 in division two.
The division one grand final was highlighted by a stunning 26-point game from Echuca's Luke Rosendale.
