Marong Cup’s fundraising for eight Catholic primary schools was given a boost by the state government on Friday with the announcement that will it contribute $15,500 to the event.

The funding has been provided through Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program and helped increase the rides and activities available on the day.
The Bendigo Jockey Club and the local community also contributed more than $20,000.
Minister for Racing Martin Pakula said the Marong Cup brings the community together and is a great example of the important role racing plays in regional Victoria.
“(We are) pleased to support the Marong Cup. It provides great entertainment for the family and supports local schools,” he said.
Marong Racing Club President Stuart Smith said he was grateful for the support from the state government and Mr Pakula.
“For many years this day has provided the local community with an outstanding family event,” he said.
