The Hawks haven’t missed a division one finals series since 1999.
However, their streak of 17-straight finals appearances is now in grave danger after only winning one of their four games since the mid-season break.
With two rounds left in the season the Hawks are in the unfamiliar territory of 23 points outside the top four and needing everything to go right for them to reach another finals series.
The Hawks and Square go into their game at Eaglehawk on the back of losses by a combined 89 shots last week.
Square was hammered by 57 shots by South Bendigo, while the Hawks went down to Castlemaine by 32 shots.
Last time: Eaglehawk 116 d Golden Square 66.
Prediction: Eaglehawk by 11.
• The in-form Castlemaine has the chance to win five games in a row for the first time since the 2009-10 season when it hosts bottom side Kangaroo Flat.
The Maine’s past two victories against Eaglehawk (32) and Bendigo East (28) have been particularly impressive, with the side peaking at the right time of the season and putting itself in a strong position to challenge for its first premiership since 1999.
While the Maine is in red-hot form, Kangaroo Flat still has plenty to fight for in trying to avoid the wooden spoon.
Last time: Castlemaine 99 d Kangaroo Flat 71.
Prediction: Castlemaine by 31.
• Inglewood takes on a rejuvenated Bendigo that regained its mojo last week when it ended a four-game losing streak with a 48-shot victory over Kangaroo Flat.
Like Eaglehawk, Inglewood – which has only won one of its past eight games – must win on Saturday to still be a finals chance going into round 14.
Last time: Bendigo 94 d Inglewood 82.
Prediction: Bendigo by 17.
