HUNDREDS of visitors are expected to fill the Bendigo Exhibition Centre on Saturday, February 25 for the city’s annual Doll and Teddy Show.
The event, now in its 26th year, has moved to a new venue in 2017 to ensure all doll and teddy enthusiasts can browse in air conditioned comfort.
All proceeds from the show go to the Bendigo Palliative Care Auxiliary, which the show has supported from the beginning.
Organiser Valerie Truant estimated the show had generated about $40,000 for the auxiliary over the past 25 years, and had raised about $100,000 in total for causes in the Bendigo area.
Dolls and teddies remained popular with people because they harked back to the toys people had in childhood, Mrs Truant said.
“I think it brings out the inner child in them,” she said.
Traders from Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia will sell goods for doll and bear making, while the Doll Doctor will again be in attendance to repair much-loved toys.
Mrs Truant said there would be a few traders selling reborn dolls, realistic baby dolls that had experienced a surge in popularity recently.
For the kids there will be free activities between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
Entry will be $5 for adults, $4.50 concession and student, and free for children under six.
The show will run from 9.30am to 4pm.
