The brigade has been raising funds for a new vehicle inspectors could use to travel to businesses for annual maintenance of fire extinguishers hoses and fire blankets around the city.
On average the brigade conducts between 25 and 40 inspections of fire extinguishers each month.
Media liaison officer George Flack said Champion IGA’s $3523 donation would bring his brigade significantly closer to purchasing the new vehicle.
“We will certainly put it to really good use. We are very hopeful of purchasing it within the next six months, perhaps even earlier,” he said.
