Fire crews were called to the grass fire on Blamey Road in Carag Carag at about 10.19pm and took about three hours to extinguish the blaze.
Senior constable Russell Locke of the Campaspe crime investigation unit said no livestock was lost and no one was injured in the fire, but “police still haven’t ruled out foul play”.
“The fire seems to be similar to other grass fires that have been lit in the area of late so it’s very similar to other fires which have been deliberately lit in a similar manner over the area in the last few weeks,” he said.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
