But the last place one might expect to see ablaze is a lake brimming with water.
That was the situation encountered by CFA members about 11am on Monday morning when they were called to a boat fire at popular holiday destination Little Lake Boort.
Boort man Geoff Smith, who recorded the fire, said another boat managed to drag the burning vessel into shore so firefighters could extinguish the blaze.
It took an hour to get the fire under control, a CFA spokesman said.
Images posted on the Boort brigade’s Facebook page show the the body of the boat was left blackened by fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said paramedics were called to the scene but none of the boat’s occupants needed treatment.
