Patients start moving into the new hospital from tomorrow and the emergency department opens at 8am.

According to Bendigo Health, the Bendigo Hospital Project has seen:
- 134,000 tonnes of soil excavated
- 33,000 cubic metres of concrete poured
- 147,000 tonnes of excavated materials
- 627 tonnes of structural steel used
- Façade materials combine to cover 28,996 square metres
- 14,000 square metres of glazing installed to the facade
- 9,201 square metres of roofing covers installed
- 1152 precast walls installed
- 3158 doors installed
- 72,150 square metres of vinyl installed to floors, walls and skirting
- 10,169 square metres of carpet installed
- 225,000 square metres of plasterboard installed
- Installed a 200-kW solar system which will generate 285,000 of kW-hours each year (approx)
There were 790 workers and four tower cranes onsite during the busiest period of the hospital’s construction.
The new hospital will have a capacity of 372 inpatient beds, 72 same-day beds, an 80-bed psychiatric inpatient unit and 11 new operating theatres.
It also boasts a parent-infant unit and an integrated cancer centre.
