Bailey had already won a scholarship to study at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, but he still received an email yesterday advising that he had been accepted into his ideal course, a double degree in engineering and commerce.
“That was really exciting,” the 18-year-old said.
With an ATAR of 98.15, he also received an offer for the same degree at Monash University.
Bailey said he had a really fun time during his last year at school and was now excited at the prospect of university.
“It feels good to be moving on to the next chapter of my studies,” he said.
Bailey plans to make the move interstate in three weeks.
“In terms of opportunity, there are lots of engineering opportunities in Sydney,” he said.
“I also think it will be really exciting to move to a completely unfamiliar place, so I think it’s going to be quite an adventure this year.”
Bailey’s course will take five and a half years to complete and after that, he thinks he might like to set up his own company, perhaps in the engineering field.
