More time to form case against ex-cop
Detectives investigating a Castlemaine man charged with fraudulently creating police identification have been given more time to gather evidence.
James Goris, 44, is facing five charges after he was arrested in November following an investigation by the Victoria Police E-Crime Squad, the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police.
Detectives appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to apply for an extension to prepare their brief of evidence.
Goris was next scheduled to appear in court on February 15, but the date has been extended to March 29.
Goris is a former police officer who allegedly used the dark net to sell fraudulent identities for police forces across Australia. He claims he called Crime Stoppers after selling the identification to tip off police, but pocketed the profits.
