UPDATE, TUESDAY 7.45am: A driver involved in a weekend crash that left one woman dead is under police guard in hospital.
The female motorist, aged in her 30s, was driving the car in which the deceased woman was travelling.
The crash occurred at the Bendigo-Tennyson Road intersection in Kamarooka on Sunday afternoon.
No more details were currently available, a police spokesperson said.
EARLIER, MONDAY 7am: Police are investigating the causes of a fatal collision near Elmore yesterday afternoon.
A woman believed to be her 30s died at the scene when the westbound Toyota sedan in which she was travelling collided with a Volkwagen about 4.50pm on Sunday.
The crash happened at a Bendigo-Tennyson Road intersection.
The drivers of the Toyota and Volkswagen, both also believed to be women in their 30s, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Nine people have died on Victorian roads in the first 16 days of 2017.
