Kelsey Griffin – who had gone into the game with a concussion concern – starred in the second half of the Spirit’s 70-60 win.
Griffin scored 19 of her 26 points in the second half, while also hauling down 10 rebounds as the captain’s fine form continued.
Nayo Raincock-Ekunwe also had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.
“It was a great team effort tonight... defensively we stuck together well with some real challenges thrown at us,” Spirit coach Simon Pritchard said.
“The girls should be proud of their effort tonight.”
The Spirit looked to have the game in command when they led 51-36 during the third quarter, before the Capitals ended the term on a 9-0 run to close the deficit to six points. But Bendigo – which dominated the rebound count 50-33 – had the final quarter answers.
