Play in the Quest Bendigo Central-backed competition hit off with a 6-1 6-2 victory for Isaac Watson and Ryan Brook against Jeremy Abel and Jacob Grieves.
Quest’s run rolled on as Brad Reeves teamed with Simon Kelly in a 6-4 6-3 victory against Clarke Forbes and Rashelle Blencowe.
Three of the four singles rubbers were won by Quest.
Watson did not concede a game against Abel.
Brook beat Forbes, 7-6 6-2, and Kelly won a hard-fought match with Blencowe, 7-6 6-4.
Rising’s sole rubber was won by Grieves who fought back from a loss in the first set tiebreak to beat Reeves 6-4 and 10-8 in the next two.
After the final rally, Quest led 11-74 to 2-41.
Spring Gully Butterflies won a closely-fought clash with South Bendigo.
Both of the doubles rubbers went Gully’s way as Matt Hartland and Jamie Brown defeated Jordan Hicks and Grant Leader, 6-4 6-3, and Danielle Bowles and Brownyn Osborne clinched a 6-2 6-2 win against Cameron Allison and Peter Somerville.
Hartland beat Hicks 6-4 4-6 10-3, and Brown outplayed Allison in a 6-2 6-3 victory.
South Bendigo did win two rubbers.
Leader hit back from a 3-6 loss in the first set of his clash with Bowles to win the next two sets, 6-2 10-3. Somerville lost just one game in a straight-sets win against Osborne. The ladder-leading Butterflies won the contest 4-9-55 to 2-5-47.
Epsom was far too strong for Strathfieldsaye.
A highlight of this clash was the doubles match between Sam Pinnuck and Brad Slingo against Strathfieldsaye’s Nick Bath and Michael Nihill.
The opening set went Bath and Nihill’s way, 6-4.
Pinnuck and Slingo levelled the contest, 7-5, and then scored a 13-11 victory in the tie-breaker.
Epsom’s Jack Baker and Jono Guy hit off the contest by scoring a 6-3 6-3 win against Michael Smyth and Cal Noonan.
The singles matches were dominated by Epsom.
Guy, Travis Johnston and Slingo achieved straight-sets win against Noonan, Bath and Nihill respectively.
The in-form Michael Smyth beat Baker, 7-5 6-7 10-7.
Premier League aces are at the Bendigo Lawn Tennis Club in Barnard Street for next Friday’s 11th round. Play hits off at 5pm.
