A 57-year-old man has died in hospital after he was assaulted at Warrnambool in Victoria's south west.

Emergency services were called to a Suzanne Crescent property just after 1.30pm on Thursday.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said paramedics took the man, who had "numerous injuries", to Warrnambool Base Hospital in a critical condition.
The man died at the hospital on Thursday night.
Police believe he died following a "fatal assault" on Wednesday night.
A 44-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, who are believed to be known to the victim, have been arrested.
Both are currently being interviewed and the exact circumstances of the death are not yet known.
A crime scene has been established at the house, the Warrnambool Standard reports.
Homicide squad detectives will investigate the death and anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
