They just can’t grow ‘em like they do in Daylesford, Colin Lambie said.
“It’s cooler and it gets about 50 per cent more rainfall down there than Bendigo does,” he said.
Seeing as they couldn’t beat them, the pragmatic minds at the Y Services now source the trees for their annual Christmas tree sale fundraiser from a Daylesford grower.
And with heavy September rains, Mr Lambie reckons this year’s crop look better than ever.
The non-profit organisation hopes to raise tens of thousands of dollars in donations to be distributed to local community groups.
The trees will be on sale beside the YMCA Tom Tweed Stadium on Mundy Street from 12pm to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm on weekends until December 18 – or whenever they sell out.
Trees go from $50 to $80.
