The 150-lot housing development was first approved in June 2013 for a 16-hectare block of land nestled into the Bendigo Regional Park.
Now an amendment to that approval is before the City of Greater Bendigo planning department as the developers look to begin construction next year.
The L-shaped property has a 500 metre-frontage on Callaghan Street – encompassing properties 40, 42, 46 and 70 Callaghan Street – and is ringed on all other sides by bush land.
The Jackass Flat Channel runs through the property which also holds several dams, existing houses and native flora.
The amendment seeks to reduce the number of blocks to 146 as well as approve a number of names for the streets which will service them: Blossom Drive, Ivory Street, Morello Way, Santa Rosa Way, Redhaven Place and Sunlit Close.
Construction would take place over six stages, with the first stage consisting of 26 new houses, ranging in size between 500 square metres to 734sqm.
The final stage would include three larger “bush blocks” with the largest of those 10,292sqm.
The majority of the 146 lots would be around 600sqm.
The amendment to the application is exempt from third party rights of objection and review and no prior notice was given as the proposal was originally approved in 2013.
