The 25-year-old partnered Brett Wilkie to win the pairs world championship final in Christchurch on Sunday.
The victory came in the same calendar year he won the under-25 world championship singles final on the Gold Coast.
Wilson, who was representing Australia for the first time at senior level, was superb in the final as he and Wilkie dominated Irish pair Gary Kelly and Ian McClure from the first end.
With the score 18-6, the Irish pair conceded defeat on the penultimate end.
Wilson and Wilkie’s victory broke a 36-year drought for Australia in men’s pairs at the world championships.
After celebrating the win the pair will have a rest day on Monday before joining forces with Barrie Lester and Mark Casey to represent Australia in the fours.
The Aussies play Zimbabwe, Norfolk Island and Singapore in preliminary round matches on Tuesday.
They then face Spain, Jersey and Malaysia on Wednesday, followed by Japan, England and Ireland on Thursday.
Semi-finals are played on Friday, with the grand final on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Karen Murphy added to Australia’s golden day on Sunday when she won the women’s singles final, 21-13.
