When Winter-Irving strode to the middle in the 14th over, the Demons had just lost three quick wickets, falling from 0-35 to 3-41.
But with support from Gavin Bowles, Winter-Irving resurrected the Demons’ innings as they reached 285.
Winter-Irving batted through until he was the last wicket to fall off the first ball of the 85th over when caught by Mark Ryan at point off Brett Andrews (1-43).
It was Winter-Irving’s second ton this season – he made 102 n.o. against Huntly-North Epsom in round three – while he now has two centuries from two innings at Axis Employment Oval.
In his only other innings at North Bendigo, he made an unbeaten 101 in round two of the 2014-15 season.
Winter-Irving struck 12 boundaries, while Bowles passed 50 for the third time in five knocks this season as he compiled 72.
Winter-Irving and Bowles put on 137 for the fourth wicket. The only other player to make more than 20 was opener Ryan Grundy (22), whose innings ended with a fine diving catch by Andrews at mid-wicket.
Jack Francis took the first three wickets to fall as he finished with 3-46 – which had one stage been 3-8 – for the Goers, while another teenager in Bailey Goodwin (3-33 off 8) also bagged three wickets, as did leg-spinner Tom Hart (3-69 off 22).
Goodwin’s wickets included Bowles, who was caught at gully by Shane Koop.
• A Dylan Gibson century has given Kangaroo Flat a score of 8-220 to defend against Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park.
Coming in at 2-20, Gibson scored his second first XI ton as he made 109.
Gisbon’s first century had also been made against Eaglehawk at Canterbury Park when he cracked 144 not out for Sandhurst in October, 2011.
Gibson faced 179 balls and belted 10 boundaries as he took his season tally of runs to 260.
His innings included a 139-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Adam Burns (50) after the score had been 3-51, with the pair the only Roos to make more than 15.
Captain Cory Jacobs took his sixth career-haul of at least five wickets for the Hawks with 5-57 off 21 overs, with his scalps including both Gibson and Burns.
The other three wickets for the Hawks – who haven’t lost to the Roos since 2010-11 – were taken by paceman Richard Tibbett (3-44 off 24).
• Strathdale-Maristians shrugged off its struggles with the bat this season to plunder 6-292 against Golden Square at All Seasons Oval.
The Suns had only one player make a score of at least 50 in their first four games, but on Saturday they had four raise their bat.
Andrew Hosking (81), Cameron Taylor (65), skipper Linton Jacobs (56) and Ben DeAraugo (53) all notched half-centuries.
The Suns were well-placed to launch after tea having reached the break at 1-115 off 51 overs, with DeAraugo and Hosking at the crease.
DeAraugo had started his innings in ominous touch, with his first six scoring shots featuring a pair of sixes and three boundaries.
Hosking spent 186 minutes compiling his 81, while Taylor’s 65 came on the back of making just seven runs in his first three hits.
Jacobs’ 56 was the first time he had passed 50 in his past 26 innings.
The innings featured DeAraugo and Hosking putting on 100 for the second wicket, and Jacobs and Taylor adding 120 for the fourth.
Golden Square captain Tim Wood mixed his bowlers up, having already used eight in the 51 overs to tea.
Teenager Kyal Rasmussen was Square’s only multiple wicket-taker, picking up 3-49 off 12 overs, with two of his dismissals Hosking and DeAraugo, who were both bowled.
• Huntly-North Epsom lost its last four wickets for 20 runs to be bowled out for 222 by ladder-leader Sandhurst at Bendigo Door Centre Weeroona Oval.
With three spinners in Craig Howard, Sam Sperling and Zen Malik (2-43) bowling 56 overs between them, the Dragons raced through their overs.
The Dragons had already bowled 55 by tea, at which stage the Power, who were sent in, were 3-112.
The Power had seven players score at least 15, with Brodie McRae top-scoring with 50 – his highest score in his past 43 innings.
Skipper Elliott Massina made 35 and shared in a 75-run stand for the second wicket with McRae, while Michael Hanson added 33.
Howard (3-42 off 15) and Taylor Beard (3-51 off 15) – playing against the team he has previously been a marquee Twenty20 player for – each picked up three wickets for the Dragons.
Sperling’s figures blew out late as he finished with 0-57 off 25 overs, having at one stage only conceded 25 runs off his first 20 overs.
• Bendigo United posted 9-234 against Strathfieldsaye at Harry Trott Oval.
Only Heath Behrens (62), who battled illness during his innings, made more than 30 for the Redbacks, who had five players score in the 20s – Mark Di Fede (27), Chris Howgate (26), Jake Thrum (25 n.o.), Nick Crawford (24) and Alex Culvenor (23 n.o.).
The Redbacks at one stage fell from 5-182 to 9-192, before Thrum and Culvenor added a valuable 42 for the last wicket.
Beauden Rinaldi (4-80 off 26) was the leading wicket-taker for the Jets, with Behrens among his dismissals when caught at mid-wicket by Ben Devanny.
Michael Curtis, who copped some early stick when Clayton Holmes (18) hit him for a pair of sixes, picked up 3-65 off 24, while Devanny (2-23 off 17) was again economical.
Skipper Devanny has conceded just 108 runs off 76 overs for the season.
