Wilson and Australian team-mate Brett Wilkie surged into Sunday’s pairs final in Christchurch after defeating reigning champions Scotland 17-11 in the semi-finals.
Wilson has showed few nerves in his international debut for Australia.
He and Wilkie went through their preliminary round matches undefeated and controlled the semi-final against Paul Foster and Alex Marshall.
Wilson and Wilkie will play Ireland’s Gary Kelly and Ian McClure in Sunday morning’s gold medal match. The game starts at 7am AEDT and will be broadcast on Fox Sports.
Wilson will also play in the men’s fours, which start on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Aussies have also qualified for three other gold medal matches over the weekend.
The women’s fours – Kelsey Cottrell, Carla Krizanic, Rebecca Van Asch and Natasha Scott – play against England in the first gold medal match on Saturday.
The Aussie men’s triples – Barrie Lester, Mark Casey and Aron Sherriff – will also play England in the final on Saturday.
On Sunday, Australia’s most capped international combatant, Karen Murphy, who celebrated her 550th appearance on Friday, will play Scotland’s Lesley Doig in the women’s singles final.
