A winner of five of his eight starts to date and placed at the other three, Wild Josh’s form at Lord’s Raceway has been faultless, winning at all three of his Bendigo outings, including a sizzling 23.73 win on November 18.
Usually a reliable beginner, Wild Josh last week in his heat was slow to begin and found plenty of trouble before showing his class and powering home for a strong win.
While he can’t afford to make any mistakes in the final he rarely does and looks the one to beat.
In race four the talented Crackerjack Choc will appreciate a significant drop in class when he contests a heat of the Vic Bred grade five series.
At his most recent outing Crackerjack Choc was a game third in a heat of the group 2 Ballarat Cup, beaten only three-and-three-quarter lengths behind proven top line sprinter Weekend Binge, and four starts back wasn’t too far away in a Geelong Cup heat.
Despite being a slow beginner, being back to a much lower grade this week should see Crackerjack Choc return to the winner’s list.
Crackerjack Choc’s kennel mate Crackerjack Andy looks the best bet on the card in race 11 from box eight.
Having won three of his past four starts, including two flying victories at Ballarat in 21.99 and Geelong in 22.23, with a clean get away he should find the front early and prove too slick for his rivals.
