The pool was slated for closure when the new Kangaroo Flat Aquatic Centre opens at the end of next year, but was thrown a lifeline after community members took over its management.
The relationship will see the pools share resources such as lifeguards and maintenance in the hope of growing each facility’s operations.
Management committee president Bernadette Wright said the new deal would also strengthen the pools’ relationship with their communities.
“This relationship is a testimony to the hard work of both of our pools, and volunteers – to be able to provide family friendly facilities for the whole community,” she said.
“I am so pleased that we have been able to form this partnership.”
The announcement came in the lead up to the summer season, which began with opening day at the Golden Square pool on Saturday.
“Our volunteers have worked tirelessly throughout winter, to ensure that the pool is ready for another successful season,” Ms Wright said.
She said an increase in patronage last season to 15,548 showed the community-run facility had a strong future.
“From day one our pool has been run by the community, for the community – and our team of volunteers can’t wait to continue doing so for the upcoming season,” she said.
“We have shown what many people working towards one common goal can achieve. I can’t wait for the upcoming summer.”
