Joining the Tigers for the 2017 Bendigo Football-Netball League season are Nicholas and Fintan Brazil from Benalla, with the brothers both part of the Saints’ team that lost this year’s GVFL preliminary final to Rochester.
“They are similar style of players to the two Govan boys (Hamish and Josh), so we’re looking forward to having them join the club,” Kyneton coach Luke Beattie said on Monday.
“They are both young players who are excited about coming on board with us.”
The Tigers also have former player Michael Clancy returning to the club after a four-year stint with Darley.
“It’s great to have Michael coming back as a local one-point player. He will certainly give us a bit more defensive intensity to our onball system, which is an area we’ve acknowledged we need to improve on,” Beattie said.

Harry Mulqueen from Harcourt is also joining the Tigers, where he shapes as a wing or half-back option.
Beattie is also excited by the return of Brandon Dimech, who will be back on the field after missing all of this year because of a knee injury.
“He’s a six-foot-two wing player with a lot of speed, so there’s a lot of optimism around what he will be able to do next year,” Beattie said.
The departures from the Tigers include ruckman Nick Higginson and Jarrod Witnish, who have both joined Phillip Island.
With Higginson gone, Beattie says this year’s reserves best and fairest Darcy Harris will get the chance to step up and ruck in the seniors, with support from Pat McCarthy.
The Tigers – who have bowed out in the elimination final to Eaglehawk the past two seasons – also have three retirements in Nathan Thompson, Michael Rainey and Ryan Carafa.
With the retirement of Rainey – who was restricted to just 18 games in three seasons at Kyneton because of injury – it means the Tigers will have a new captain.
