Set up as a taste of what people could expect at next year’s festival, the Bookmark Events will feature Australian author and public speaker Don Watson and New York journalist Masha Gessen.
Watson will speak with La Trobe University’s Sue Giellett at The Capital’s Bendigo Bank Theatre on November 26.
Bookings are required for the free event which will focus on Watson’s fascination for the myths and realities that define “the bush” in Australian culture.
Masha Gessen is appearing in partnership with The Wheeler Centre at The Capital on December 5.
She will discuss the historical, economic and cultural circumstances that have enabled the ascendance of unorthodox political figure – US president-elect Donald Trump.
The Bendigo Writers Festival also has Bookmark Events planned for Dunolly and Maryborough early next year.
