The City of Greater Bendigo and Macedon Ranges Shire Council are among more than 50 finalists in the 2016 VicHealth Awards.
Greater Bendigo is a finalist in the category of promoting healthy eating, for the Creating healthy supermarkets for Victorians initiative.
Macedon Ranges is competing for the award in the improving mental wellbeing category for the Live4Life initiative, which is run in five secondary schools.
The program was developed in response to youth mental illness.
Bendigo Advertiser journalist Adam Holmes is a finalist for the award for outstanding journalism on health promotion issues.
This year’s VicHealth awards attracted an unprecedented number of nominations, VicHealth chief executive officer Jerril Rechter said.
A new category, improving health equity, was among the most popular of the 11 categories.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony on December 1.
