Four hens at a Degille Street property in North Bendigo were found with their heads torn off on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred sometime after 5pm on Wednesday.
Senior Constable Jo Smith said the lavender araucana breed of bird was valuable and the attack was “devastating” for the owners.
Another seven chickens were killed at a house on Prouses Road last Friday night, although owners did not intially report the slaughter to police.
Two severely injured ducks were also discovered at the site and had to be euthanised.
“Obviously it’s quite disturbing, the act, to do that to an animal,” Senior Constable Smith said.
Anyone with information should contact Bendigo police station on 5448 1300.
