Dribs and Drabs will perform their Halloween cabaret show on Saturday night.
“It is pretty much booked out, which is good,” Dribas and Drabs owner Gary HIlson said.
“This is our big day and we also have all the Christmas shows too.”
Mr Hilson started Dribs and Drabs in 1999 and since then has seen Halloween grow in popularity in Australia.
“It used to be pretty quiet but we were always doing plenty of shows. It has grown a lot more in the last few years,” he said.
“People are a bit more in the spirit of Halloween now. Shows like our show, sort of makes people think about Halloween a bit more.”
Mr Hilson and his family have always enjoyed the creepy and spooky, which is why he started the cabaret show.
“My daughters come from dance background but we all love that Halloween type stuff,” he said.
“I loved Draculas and we went down that track. When people arrive they go through tunnel of terror, into a lift to get you in.
“Our normal show is The Freak Show but it’s not all scary stuff. There are a variety of songs and comedy and we always end with Rocky Horror.”
But the wide array of props, sets and costumes at Dribs and Drabs rarely make it to Mr Hilson’s home.
“We have decorated my son’s house a few times but all props in are at Dribs, so it can be hard to to do that,” Mr Hilson said.
Mulligrub’s play centre in East Bendigo is also getting in the spirit of Halloween with an event planned for Sunday.
Their Halloween Spooky Spectacular has been running for the past three years.
It runs from 10am to 2pm and features face painting, a costume parade, sensory slime and plenty of Halloween decorations.
