That might change this summer.
The 19-year-old from Queensland is enjoying a career-best season, including recent Pro Tour tournament wins in Tweed Heads and Brisbane.
That form continued at the Bendigo International on Thursday when she knocked out fifth-seed Eri Hozumi in the second round.
The 6-3, 7-5 victory set up a blockbuster quarter-final clash against top seed Risa Ozaki on Friday.
Win or lose on Friday, Cabrera’s recent good form has already earned her a wildcard into qualifying for the Australian Open in January.
However, the deeper she goes in the Bendigo International the more likely she is to win a wildcard into the main draw of the Australian Open.
The best performed Australian female across the Bendigo and Canberra Pro Tour events earns a berth at the first Grand Slam of the year.
Thursday’s second round at the Bendigo Tennis Centre was full of upsets, with third-seed Julia Glushko and fourth-seeded Aussie Arina Rodionova joining Horumi on the sidelines.
Glushko lost to PNG’s Abigail Tere-Apisah 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 and Rodionova went down to Thailand’s Varatchaya Wongteanchai 7-5, 7-5.
Number one seed Ozaki cruised through to the quarters after defeating Australia’s Jaimee Fourlis 6-2, 6-4. Second seed Asia Muhammad was even more impressive in her 6-1, 6-4 win over Zuzana Zlochova.
Australia has three representatives in the quarters after Tammi Patterson and Naiktha Bains joined Cabrera in the final eight.
Patterson won a tough three-setter against Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa 7-5, 2-6, 7-5, while Bains was too good for fellow Aussie Maddison Inglis 6-4, 6-4.
Great Britain’s Katy Dunne rounds out the final eight after disposed of Aussie Destanee Aiava 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
The quarter-finals start from 10am on Friday, with Cabrera playing Ozaki, Bains goes head-to-head with Tere-Apisah, Wongteanchai battles Dunne and Patterson takes on Muhammad.
