Evans has spent the past two seasons at the Brisbane Lions after being selected with pick 4 in the 2014 AFL Rookie Draft from the Bendigo Pioneers.
The 20-year-old played seven games for the Lions – five in 2015 and two this year – before being de-listed.
“By just looking at the players here at the club and those drafted onto AFL lists previously really attracted me to Box Hill,” Evans said on the Box Hill Hawks’ website on Thursday.
“Along with this is the opportunity to work with the great resources at the club, including coach Chris Newman.”
Evans, whose original club is Sandhurst, says he is determined to earn a second chance on an AFL list.
“I will be looking to continue to develop my game here at the Box Hill Hawks and, hopefully, earn my way back onto an AFL list,” Evans said.
