DAVID Reeves and Bruce Serjent won the two top categories at the Castlemaine No.4 District Rifle Association’s Military and Classic Shoot held earlier this month.

Reeves from Lang Lang won the Classic A category with a score of 127.1, while Serjent from the Military Rife Club took out the Military A class with 138.5.
The competition attracted shooters from across Victoria, with the event a chance for shooters to bring out classic rifles, with the Lee-Enfield and Mauser being the most common.

Second – Andre Deans (MRC), 117.2
Third – Alan Mills (Castlemaine), 116.1
Classic B:
First – Frank Griffo (MRC), 120
Second – Brian McKenna (Moe City), 107
Third – Robert Pearce (Kyneton), 104.
Military A:
First – Bruce Serjent (MRC), 138.5
Second – George Markinkovic (MRC), 123.4
Third – Matt Beale (MRC), 93
Military B:
First – Malcolm Laurence (Castlemaine), 103
Second – Frank Griffo (MRC), 102
Third – Max Elson (Castlemaine), 67.1
The No.4 District Rifle Association is made up of the Castlemaine, Kyneton and Maryborough rifle clubs.
The major sponsor of the event was the Bendigo RSL.
“The day was very competitive, with the emphasis on having fun and bringing out the old guns to do what they do best,” the association said.
