The Woodhouse won bronze in the steak restaurant category at the Savour Australia National Awards in Sydney on Monday night.
Owner and head chef Paul Pitcher said it was an amazing result.
“For one we were pretty honoured to be there with seven other restaurants,” he said.
“We couldn’t believe it really. We work really hard to do the best we can and to be among the city restaurants is an amazing achievement for us and our staff.
“It is fantastic recognition for the business and the staff who work so hard for us.”
Mr Pitcher said The Woodhouse must have scored highly in all areas to finish so high.
“You are scored in all areas – food, wine and service – and you are scored from the minute (judges) walk in to the minute they walk out.”
Brisbane’s Black Hide Steakhouse won the gold award while Sydney’s Prime finished second.
