Police will prepare a report for the coroner after the fall, which also injured a 35-year-old Collingwood man.
The man remained in hospital in a stable condition on Sunday.
Police are still investigating the cause of the incident, but a spokeswoman said it was not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
The man and woman were located at the building on Smith Street just after 11.30am on Saturday.
The woman died at the scene while the man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
It is believed they fell about 10 metres, from a balcony on the third floor.
Neighbours have said they did not know the couple and it is believed there were no witnesses to the incident.
