Chasing the Emus’ 9-250, the Rams passed their target just four wickets down before ending the day at 7-330, with an Andrew Sheehan century the backbone of the innings.
Sheehan plundered 20 boundaries in a knock of 133, while the Rams also had Alan Friswell (54) and opener Matt Dwyer (51) make half-centuries and skipper Rick Ladson chip in with 47.
Sheehan and Ladson put on 134 for the third wicket that put the game in control of the Rams at Club Court.
Captain Simon Marwood (2-63) was the only multiple wicket-taker among the Emus’ 10 bowlers used.
• Marong beat Maiden Gully for the eighth time in a row with a comfortable 82-run victory.
Resuming at 2-45 in pursuit of Maiden Gully’s 123 at Villawood Oval, the Panthers answered with 205.
Duane Anderson (53 n.o.), coming off 5-15 with the ball on day one, and Scott Ross (50) both made half-centuries for the Panthers to anchor the innings.
In his first game for his new club, Greg Burns was Maiden Gully’s best performer with the ball with 4-28 off 9.4 overs.
• West Bendigo staved off Mandurang’s attempt at outright points.
After the Rangas crunched 6-346 declared off just 48 overs last week, the Redbacks resumed on Saturday in dire straits at 6-55.
They added another 15 runs before being all out for 70, with the Rangas’ James Pietromonaco finishing with the brilliant figures of 6-16 off 16 overs, including eight maidens at Ken Wust Oval.
Sent in for a second innings, the Redbacks dug in to reach 5-82 off 49 overs and avoid an outright loss.
Gary Singh top-scored in both West Bendigo’s innings with knocks of 30.
