Funding for sun protection for Bendigo school

CALIFORNIA Gully Primary School has received $27,500 in state government funding to install sun shades.

The school will receive the funding from the School Shade Grant Program to build new shade structures, repair existing structures, purchase portable shade or create natural shade by planting trees.

Schools across the state shared in $1.4 million under the second round of the program.

Australia has the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and 40,000 new cases are diagnosed in Victoria each year.
