CAPTAIN: Linton Jacobs
LAST SEASON: Premiers – 12-2-1.
ARRIVALS: Adrian Pappin, John Cooper, Rohit Sharma.
DEPARTURES: Jono Davidson, Jayden Hicks.
SUMMARY: Strathdale’s dynasty looks set to continue despite some off-season changes.
Batsman Jono Davidson is heading overseas, while all-rounder Jayden Hicks informed the club this week that he would be relocating to Geelong in mid-November. There’s also doubts about the playing future of veteran batsman Nick Baker.
In true Strathdale style, the club has plenty of options to fill the vacancies.
Premiership all-rounder Adrian Pappin is back at the club, while young paceman John Cooper has made a strong impression in pre-season training since arriving from suburban cricket in Melbourne. The Suns have also added batting all-rounder Rohit Sharma.
Dylan Bailie will get more opportunities with the ball and the Suns also have three of the best under-18 cricketers in the region – James Vlaeminck, Daniel Clohesy and Sean O’Farrell – patiently waiting for their chance.
The class and experience of Linton Jacobs, Cam Taylor, Ben DeAraugo, Andrew Hosking and Sam Johnston means the Suns are premiership favourites again.
The Suns might start the season a touch slower than usual, but they’ll be there again when the whips are cracking.
