The QEO was slated to host a day-night fixture between Carlton and Casey-South Melbourne on Saturday, October 22, as part of the annual Premier Cricket Bush Bash round.
However, because of the recent wet weather around the state Cricket Victoria has cancelled the Bush Bash round and will instead play all matches at Premier Cricket grounds.
“Whilst some venues were still confident that play could proceed as planned, several indicated that there is some doubt of having suitable conditions for play, with most areas of Victoria experiencing well-above average rainfall in September and early October,” a statement said.
Bendigo District Cricket Association president Wayne Walsh said the QEO would have been cleared for play.
“We appreciate where Cricket Victoria is coming from because there are a lot of grounds scheduled for games that would have struggled,” Walsh said.
