Key defender Tarrant won the Roos’ best and fairest award on Friday night, polling 263 votes to win by six from Jack Ziebell.
“Robbie has been a rock in defence,” North Melbourne coach Brad Scott said.
”Week in, week out, we knew exactly what to expect from Robbie and he was an influential member of our line-up all year, taking on and beating some of the best forwards in the country nearly every week.”
Tarrant said his win was unexpected, adding it was an honour to be added to the list of Syd Barker medallists.
Tarrant is the second Bendigo Pioneer draftee to win an AFL best and fairest this year, with Dustin Martin also crowned Richmond’s champion player.
Meanwhile, at the Kangaroos’ best and fairest AFL games record-holder Brent Harvey retired.
